The Army Distaff Foundation (ADF) works in partnership with Knollwood Military Retirement Community. Founded in 1959, ADF created the nation's first retirement community for retired members of all branches of our military.
The task was to refresh both logos for ADF and Knollwood, ensuring both logos worked individually and as a pair. Knollwood's logo features an oak leaf, a symbol found throughout military history and symbolism. The ADF symbol showcases a woman's silhouette, paying tribute to the roots of the organization as a community for the widows of fallen officers, specially those of WWII and Korea.
The logos translated through to a full sales kit, brochures and corporate identity system.
Once in a while an assignment comes along that reaches an artist in a different way, and working on these pieces while knowing the reasoning behind them was truly an honor.
